What to Make About the Many Mommy Bloggers

I’m not pregnant yet but my husband and I stopped using birth control and would like to start a family soon.  So I find myself on the internet already reading about parenting trends, baby products etc.  One thing that caught my attention is how many mommy bloggers there is out there.

Some have really nice looking websites with a ton of useful information that can be easily accessed.  I have placed some of these in my favorites list and visit them regularly.  I really enjoy reading quality articles and learning from them.  The other day I read an article comparing organic cotton and bamboo.  Both are widely used in organic baby clothes manufacture and it is helpful to understand how they differ from each other.  They are not only different in the way they impact the environment but also in how they feel on a baby’s skin, how durable they are etc.

Then there are the types of blogs that seem to be mostly review sites.  Now on one hand it is really helpful that someone, possibly a mommy herself, is reviewing these products and letting us know the pros and cons, but on the other hand, how am I to know how honest and unbiased these reviews are.  Just this morning, I was reading reviews about organic baby onesies on two different blogs.  One seemed like they simply used the pitch from the vendor and ended up “loving” and “highly recommending” the product.  The other one was talking about how they washed it several times, how it felt when their baby wore it etc.  The latter sounded more like they really took the time to experience the product which in my opinion, made the review more believable.
